Born in Suva, Fiji and raised with the rich traditions of Pacific life, Anae Arthur Anae’s story is one of humble beginnings and remarkable achievements. Arriving in New Zealand as a young child, he quickly demonstrated an entrepreneurial spirit and a drive to serve—traits that would later define his leadership. From his early days to becoming the first Pacific person in New Zealand’s Government, Anae’s journey is about breaking barriers and championing change. His lifelong commitment to empowering Pacific communities and fostering unity continues to inspire. As Anae often says, “Our beginnings do not limit us—they prepare us to lead.”

Recognizing strength in unity, Anae leads efforts to bring Pacific nations together, demanding fair treatment and equal opportunities. By strengthening their collective voice on global platforms, he believes, “Our collective voice is impossible to ignore.”

Fair Pension Rights for Pacific Islanders

For years, Anae has campaigned for pension equity, ensuring Pacific Islanders who have contributed to New Zealand society can access their rightful benefits, regardless of where they reside. His work asks, “If we are part of the same family, shouldn’t fairness be our foundation?”

Visitor Visa on Arrival

Anae is a leading advocate for fairer travel policies, calling for a three-month visitor visa on arrival for Pacific peoples. As New Zealand does for 60 other countries around the world.  His work focuses on breaking down barriers and promoting equal treatment, emphasizing the importance of unity and strategic partnership between New Zealand and the Pacific.

At a key meeting, Anae was appointed Chairman for the Asian  Pacific Region, stepping up to lead efforts against discrimination and encourage more inclusive policies in cities. His leadership in this role highlights his commitment to equality and building connections that make a real difference on a global scale.

He’s focused on finding practical solutions so Pacific Islanders can receive fair benefits, even while residing in Samoa. His advocacy aims to address long-standing challenges and ensure fairness for the community.
